Identifying priority areas for natural resource management in Southeast Asia

The UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), in collaboration with the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), invite you to take part in a survey about natural resource management in Southeast Asia. Your input will inform the establishment of the ASEAN Resource Panel (ARP).

The survey's main objective is to identify high-impact priority areas in natural resource management for each country in the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) as well as the region as a whole. The survey will also collect information about opportunities and challenges in policy implementation, areas where countries have adequate knowledge or data, and the preference for future knowledge products from the ARP. The information is expected to contribute to the development of the ASEAN Resource Panel work programme.

What will I be asked to do?

Data collected include the organisation and country of survey respondents and their ranking of the conditions and priorities for natural resource management in Southeast Asia. The questions relate to each country's state of natural resource policy implementation and the need for specific knowledge products from the ARP that survey respondents prefer. No other personal information will be gathered from the participants except for an email address for those who wish to receive follow-up information.

Completing the survey should take around 15 minutes. Your participation is entirely voluntary, and you are free to withdraw by stopping at any time. If you decide to withdraw from the survey, any responses you have provided up to that point will be deleted.

How will the results be used?

The survey results are expected to guide the development of the ASEAN Resource Panel work programme. This information will be made available to participants through email (if provided) by CSIRO around early November. Any specific comments will be attributed to the originating organisation rather than to individuals from those organisations. CSIRO will manage the knowledge generated from the project, and UN ESCAP will own the research outcomes. Survey findings will also be presented at an online scoping workshop for the ARP, planned to be held in mid-November.
